The story takes place in a dense, rich forest of long, long ago, when there were two kinds of people - the hunters, and the farmers.
The farmers were the cotton-clothed humans who lived simple lives: Water and harvest your crops, raise and tend to the animals, and come together in a great celebration the night of every full moon. They did this as such, because their rivals, the hunters, would think twice of raiding their village on a night of such light... Thus, they celebrated. Their government was one of politics of sorts - the most abundant farmer would lead them. These people suffered often from raids made by the hunters, as they had become the main suppliers for that group.
And the hunters, feared and territorial, would happen to live and thrive some distance upriver, and on the other side. These were people of half-breeds, sharing characteristics and abilities of animals that they used to their advantage in every way possible. Their attire was of furs and skins, and their lives quite carefree: Live, rest, and catch your own d*mn meal. It was every family for itself. Their social system was merely a stern set of rules, enforced by those who truly believed in it.
Our little hero happens to be Kaia, a young foxgirl from the hunters tribe, captured and held within the farmers village for the past few years. Until she finally escapes, taking the head farmer's son with her, she had almost forgotten the roots from which she came. Yet as Akira is settling into his new life, things turn even worse. A great war begins between the two, but territorial disputes play their parts as well. Seems as things would have to be solved... in the ole Romeo and Juliet fashion.
