College Prices

This has been discussed several times in different conversations I've had. Today I was talking to a friend(she wanted her name wit held lol) online and I heard something on the TV and it said something about the price of colleges. So i asked my friend an this was our discussion:
Me: Why does college cost so much?
Friend: i don't know, cuz it really should be cheaper so more people would go!!
me: Yeah, they are making much more money than they even need. Many of the funds for cancer research and such that go to colleges are actually wasted. The people in charge of it find a way to keep the money for themselves! It sucks that the whole thing is a big scam, and yet if we ever want to be successful we have to let them take more money than they need!
friend: yeah that is so true!! Colleges are also making you have to have a certain amount of credits to graduate and the classes are so hard to complete that you have to go more years which adds to the money you have to pay
Friend: (college classes)
me : It's insane! I know that they need to make money too, but not that much!
friend : yeah!!
me: People that come from poor homes and want to make something of themselves can't because it costs too much for them! Only people born into rich families can make anything of themselves! Other that the few people who get lucky!
friend : omgosh yeah!! and that's why people want to be famous, so they'll be rich haha
me : In a way it's kind of the same if you ever want to be in some high place in government. The easiest example would be president. Only rich people can make it to those important spots, and they may not see things the way others do.
friend: President Alecia
me: *presidential music plays* If you elect me, Alecia, as your president, I promise to do everything in my power to keep the middle class, as some COMPANIES are trying to eliminate that and I understand how important it is to function as a country. I also will work my best to lower prices of colleges so that we can have more success in graduates.
me: hehe that's what I would say!
friend: hey, I would vote for you. That was an excellent statement, madam.
Me: lol it just popped in my head...

What do you think of this? I'm curious to hear other peoples opinions on this. Do you think the prices are fair, or way too expensive?

there's alot of things that also contribute to the high prices.

One, if everybody went, then lower class jobs (some of the most important) might be endangered. There are more necessary jobs that don't even require a collage aplication (like convience store clerc or gas station cashier). These prices are kept high to prevent a shortage. Also, collages are expensive to keep up with. To pay for new computer's and programs to teach the latest techniques (like drafting and even art degrees). Also, Trade Schools are not as expenisve and normaly are more need jobs then what is found at a collage. We need people like criminal investigators and drafters and so on. The less expenisve cost of Trade Schools normlay offer an alternative to jobs that are more in demand and necessary. Plus, the people gougeing money from you normaly sepend decades to get where there at. They had to work that far and spend alot of money just to make a fraction of it back. Most professors won't work enought to amount for the collage courses they had to take.

Scholorships also lower the price. Pell grants, education scholorships, and so on are all fairly easy to get ahold of if you quaify. Plus ACT scores that are high will also guarentee you some sort of scholarship. There are alot of government grants you can get by just putting your name, address, phone #, and ssn on a peice of paper. Some are more complex. But there are so many ways to get alot of the weight of collage to be paid for. The key is to find the grants and scholorships.

So yes, collage is expensive. But if you konw where to look and why they are so expensive (exspicaly in Alabama were were haveing a shortage of chash to go to the schools) then you'll understand a little bette. And i'm not saying they shouldn't lower the prices, but i also see why they arn't (i want to be a game designer and i'm not working on some 1995 pos computer).

There are so many ways to pay for college, ya'll. My family has NO money at all and I'm going to college. There are loans galore, scholarships aplenty and federal grants to be found too. Don't go dissing colleges because they're expensive. Education IS expensive. No matter what people say. But most people who "try" to get into college refuse to work while they're in college to help pay for it later. Plus, you have tons of time to get whatever you need done. It's not as hard as some people claim either. So get over it and either attend college or enter the work force. But don't go complaining about what you don't understand.

Youre rite. I'm sorry. We obviously don't understand much when we were talking about it. I do see it differtantly now though. But I don't understand why it has to cost so much more if its not in the same state. I'm sure there is a good reason behind that too though.
